The Tuxedo Chamber’s
Spotlight on Business this month is Guidecraft, a manufacturer and wholesaler
of quality toys and furniture for the education and consumer markets.
Established in 1964 in Orangeburg, NY by Fred Fein, the company began with a
few, small wooden figures called Wedgies that were created to help children explore
dramatic play. Over the decades, the company evolved into a major supplier for
the education market, offering products such as classroom furniture, lofts,
hardwood blocks, educational games and toys, gross-motor products, construction
toys, art equipment, and more. In the last few years Guidecraft has branched
out to the consumer market, with offerings on hand-painted and hand-carved
furniture, licensed Major League Baseball furniture, and a great selection of
products for children for all facets of the home.
The company still sells Wedgies (now by the
thousands, not the hundreds) and is still family-owned and operated, with
Fred¹s son, Jason, at the helm. Our design office was recently relocated to
Tuxedo, New York, to better serve the members of the design team. Warehousing,
customer service and operations are located in Winthrop, Minnesota. Products
are sourced globally and sold wholesale only.
Guidecraft thanks the Tuxedo community for the
warm welcome it has received. For more information please visit www.guidecraft.com or call 845-915-3388.
