We would like to invite all members in good standing to participate in our leadership election for the 2015-2016 Chamber Board of Trustees. The election will be held on December 11th at our annual mixer.
We will have four open officer positions available: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Each office is held on a two-year term (will expire in December of 2016). There are three additional non-officer trustee positions that will expire next December.
The current group has been fantastic and I give them all of the credit for tirelessly representing our needs as a business community to the local government and general public. I feel that we have a very strong, small business-focused core of volunteers and people who deeply care about our businesses and the broader community. This will not change going forward.
However, the current leadership team has been together for four years now, while much has changed around us in Tuxedo. At least three large developments are underway right here in town that could change the face of the business district. We continue to welcome an average of about five new businesses per year to our community. I am guessing that you may have some excellent ideas and initiatives about how to move forward together, and there is no better way to achieve this than as a part of the Chamber.
There is work to be done and change is inevitable. We want you to have the opportunity to step up to the plate if you're willing to work with the board, the Town, Village, and our numerous partners. Our goals are simple: serve as the voice of the business community, and work within the community to make Tuxedo a better place to work and to live. Furthermore, serving on the Chamber Board as a secondary benefit of raising your profile within the community, which has been fantastic for me and my own business.
If you're interested in being part of the Chamber leadership team, please contact me or Lisa Favia (lisa@tuxedochamber.org). The election isn't until December 11th, but for serious candidates, now is the time to get involved in the process to ensure a smooth transition.
Thank you as always for your tremendous support.
